AnnotationDendritic cells (DCs ), potent antigen-presenting cells (APC) are able to link the innate and adaptive immune system. Many studies have been focused on different immunotherapeutic approaches to apply DCs as tools improving anticancer therapy. Although the benefit of DC-based vaccination during anticancer therapy have been reported, the general knowledge about the ultimate methods of DC-vaccine preparation still remains unsatisfied. Additionally, some remote effects of different forms of DC-vaccine application require broader elaboration using animal model studies. This review summarizes the effects of the application of antigen-stimulated and/or genetically modified DCs used as vaccines for the treatment of experimental tumors.
