Many studies have been focused on different immunotherapeutic approaches to apply DCs as tools improving anticancer therapy. Although the benefit of DC-based vaccination during anticancer therapy have been reported, the general knowledge about the ultimate methods of DC-vaccine preparation still remains unsatisfied. Additionally, some remote effects of different forms of DC-vaccine application require broader elaboration using animal model studies. This review summarizes the effects of the application of antigen-stimulated and/or genetically modified DCs used as vaccines for the treatment of experimental tumors.
