AnnotationThe paper compares two different interpretations of the texts of Aquinas. One of them is the interpretation of orthodox Thomism, represented by Cajetan and John of St. Thomas on one hand, and the liberal interpretation of the Jesuits, personified by Pedro Hurtado de Mendoza (1578-1641). The comparison is realized in the frame of three issues, which are as follows: the nature of virtual distinction, the nature absolutely considered, and the intension and extension of the logical species.
