AnnotationPhytogeographical comparison of polar Arctic and Antarctic cyanobacteria from the genus Phormidium, which play an important role in the structure of ecosystems of both regions. It was used the comparison by molecular and phenotype analyses. The common genotypes were not found in both polar regions; it means that the dominant populations of Phormidium are adapted and specialized in both regions. It was found also the generic relation between the type Phormidium autumnale and the genus Microcoleus.
