Básnická tvorba experimentálního charakteru vzniká na přelomu devatenáctého a v průběhu dvacátého století. Experiment chápeme jako dlouhodobé a tvůrčí úsilí popřít uměleckým výrazem setrvávající dobové estetické normy a zároveň tento tvůrčí proces racionálně zdůvodnit, reflektovat jej navenek formou prohlášení, manifestů či programových esejů. Studie se zabývá českými poetickými experimenty dvacátého století: verslibrismem devadesátých let devatenáctého století, poetikou moderních básníků sdružených kolem Almanachu na rok 1914, poetismem a surrealismem generace meziválečné avantgardy, Skupinou 42 a tzv. experimentální poezií šedesátých let dvacátého století.

Experimental poetic writing comes into existence at the end of the 19th century and during the 20th century. Experiment is a purposeful and long-lasting creative effort to contradict contemporaneous aesthetic standards in a new artistic expression and simultaneously to motivate this creative effort rationally, to reflect it by individual statements, manifests or programme statements. The study considers Czech poetic experiments of the 20th century: verslibrism of the 1890s, the poetics of modern poets gathered around the "Almanac on 1914" ("Almanach na rok 1914"), poetism and surrealism of the avant-garde generation between the wars, Group 42 and the "experimental poetry" of the 1960's.
