AnnotationArchaeological sites buried within organic deposits belong to some of the most neglected archaeological sources in the Czech Republic. The newly discovered traces of Mesolithic occupation around lake Švarcenberk provide exceptionally good conditions for solving these questions, and for this reason the local situation is unique within Central Europe. The main benefit, which can not yet be fully appreciated at present, is the opportunity of studying Mesolithic settlements directly in interaction with the natural environment.
