AnnotationDrug delivery vehicles, usually polymers or supramolecular assemblies such as liposomes or micelles, form complexes with drugs that behave in a different way than the particular drug itself. Such systems may be used to suppress unfavourable side effects of the carried drugs by their preferential targeted delivery to the tissues of interest, to prolong drug blood circulation times etc. This chapter reviews the principles, approaches, achievements and challenges in the field of stimuli responsive polymeric micellar drug delivery systems.
