Description in English Women's doctors largely contributed to women´s emancipation. Medicine women's students were among the first university women's students in general; even before they had been admitted to local universities some went abroad to study there. One of the very first medicine women's students was Anna Bayerová, whose fate proved the fact that having obtained the necessary qualification could by no means guarantee an opportunity to get a job in the profession thus acquiered.
