AnnotationHeterogeneous ion-exchange membranes were prepared by mixing small particles of sulfonated poly(1,4-phenylene sulfide) or sulfonated styrene-divinylbenzene copolymer with a matrix polymer such as linear polyethylene, poly(vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene), polystyrene and regenerated cellulose. Membrane morphologies, electrochemical and transport properties of prepared membranes were studied. Flexibility or rigidity of the matrix polymer had a decisive impact on membrane properties.
