Description in English The book, as the first publication of its kind, provides a complete review of geological and geomorphological phenomena on sandstones and conglomerates. Their genesis is explained according to the latest scientific knowledge. Moreover, many of the described phenomena have been never reported yet. Some chapters also discuss human interventions in the sandstone substrate from the Prehistoric times till the present. The book also includes 80 chapters providing basic characteristics of the main Czech and Slovak sandstone regions. With its concept and the number (over 600) of colour photographs, it is an indispensable handbook for all sandstone scientists but also a valuable inspiration for travellers and nature lovers in general.
