AnnotationWe have investigated the efficiency of a combined modality approach employing 24 h pretreatment of relatively PDT-resistant HT-29 colon adenocarcinoma cells with proadifen followed by HY-PDT. Since significant accumulation of hypericin was found to be a principal factor responsible for ROS induction and therefore higher efficiency of HY-PDT, involvement of ABC transporter system was evaluated.
