Zaměřuje se přitom na zkoumání souvislosti mezi autochtonní kulturní logikou matriarchátu s jeho specifickou konceptualizací mužských a ženských rolí a institucionalizovanou mužskou migrací, která v průběhu 20. století vedla k formování charakteristických minangských translokálních komunit, tvořených vesnickými jádry a rozsáhlými městskými diasporami. Sleduje interakci autochtonních kulturních modelů s vnějšími kulturními vlivy zprostředkovanými ve vesnickém prostředí navracevšími se migranty, počínaje konverzí k islámu, přes zásadní společenské proměny období holandské kolonizace, až po suhartovské období politiky rekonstrukce kulturních tradic a aktuální post-suhartovskou éru, jejíž společenský vývoj nahlíží z perspektivy jedné vesnice a krajanské organizace jejích rodáků v diaspoře. Description in English The monograph introduces an important Indonesian ethnic group - the Minangkabau, based on both fieldwork and complex study of history, literature and folklore of this ethnic group. Particulary, it looks into the relationship between the indigenous cultural logic of matriarchy, with its specific conceptualization of gender roles, and institutionalized male migration, which, during the 20th century, lead to formation of translocal communities constituted of village cores and extensive urban diasporas. It analyzes interaction between indigenous cultural models and outside cultural influences mediated in the rural areas by returning migrants. From conversion to Islam, it goes on to examine the social transformations of the period of Dutch colonization, or the developments of the era of Suharto´s politics of reconstruction of cultural traditions, to conclude with a view of the post-Suharto era from the perspective of one particular village and the organization of its migrants in diaspora.
