AnnotationContents of free polyamines (putrescine, spermidine, and spermine) were determined in different developmental stages of Norway spruce (Picea abies (L.) Karst.) somatic embryos. Maturation of somatic embryos was accompanied by the increase in the concentration of spermidine. In the course of desiccation phase the levels of putrescine and spermidine decreased; however the content of spermine increased more than twice. To improve the efficiency of somatic embryogenesis of less responsible genotypes, the application of polyamines into the growth medium is discussed.
