Analyzuje biografické rozhovory a všímá si toho, jaké místo zaujímají příběhy spojené s veřejnou angažovaností v životních příbězích, jak narátoři a narátorky vzpomínají na nutnost/možnost se veřejně angažovat v organizacích Národní fronty, na pracovišti a v místě bydliště, jak své zkušenosti interpretují v současné době a jak s nimi pracují. Pozornost soustřeďuje také na to, zda veřejná angažovanost byla „nástrojem moci“ nebo vytvářela prostor pro uplatňování vlastních strategií. Description in English The study deals with one part of the everyday life in the socialist Czechoslovakia, with so called “public engagement” that should have created (according the official statements) one of the most important characteristic features of the socialist society. It analysis biographical interviews and describes what is the position of the stories about public engagement like within the whole narrated life stories, how the narrators remember the necessity/possibility of their engagement in different kinds of organisations, on their working places and in their places of residence, how they interpret their experience nowadays and how they deal with them. The study pays its attention also to the problem of public engagement as a “tool of power” or as a space of possible application of private strategies.
