The paper concerns static and dynamic properties of a magnetic deflection system. The discussion deals with negative influence of eddy-currents, coil parasitic capacitance, limited slew rate of a coil driver and other effects. Methods of measurement of linearity, stability and actual deflection speed are described. The experiment results made on an electron beam welding machine are presented.
