AnnotationThe authors analyze contemporary ir/religiosity in the Czech Republic using data from national censuses, international surveys, and a specialized national survey of religion from 2006. They show that the influence of the socio-demographic characteristics on respondents’ religiosity, both traditional and alternative, exists but is weak. Religious socialization in the childhood seems to be a more important factor. They further show that the out-of-church movement was established early in the country’s history and was subsequently strengthened by Communist regime.
