Description in English In connection with the brief overview of Slavic ramparts in Moravia the article explores in detail (with one exception) the homesteads of magnates among the Slavs to the north of the middle Danube area at the time of the existence of Great Moravia. It asserts that the system of homesteads became relatively well established particularly in the second half of the 9th century. Possible models derive primarily from the Frankish and Bavarian milieu. The outer form of the farmsteads was determined by their function and was not entirely uniform. The farmsteads were built and held by the privileged class - by wealthy and high-born land owners, owners of moveable property and subjects who held important functions in the governmental, administrative, military, judicial and fiscal apparatus of the land.
