AnnotationCombination of molecular biology, crystallography and spectroscopy allowed to identify structural and spectroscopic properties of a specific mutant of the PCP complex, which significantly changes absorption spectrum. Structure of this mutant was determined to 1.5 Å resolution and specific changes in absorption and transient absorption spectra were identified as due to electrochromic shift of perdinin Per-614 that senses the excited chlorophyll nearby.
