AnnotationAnalysis of the structures and nucleotide sequences of genes encoding light and heavy fibroins in two caddisfly species revealed similarities with homologous genes in Lepidoptera. Amino acid repeats in the heavy fibroin of caddisflies contain very few alanines but possess more charged residues and a motif containing tryptophane.
