Two basic monotonic loading regimes are investigated - a short-term with a constant rate of stress increase and a long-term with constant stress (creep). The difference in assessing dispersed damage accumulation following those approaches is analyzed. The instant response idea can be employed with adventage to assess total damage in material structures with complicated relations among individual constituents, while weak spot distribution approach is more suitable for materials with clearer physical meaning of damage.
