Finite element calculations for two-dimensional (plane stress and plane strain) and three-dimensional bodies are compared. The singular stress field is characterized by linear elastic two-parameter fracture mechanics. The stress intensity factor K and the elastic T-stress in the middle of a three-dimensional crack front are determined using direct methods. The results obtained in agreement with the literature data indicate dependence of the calculated fracture parameters on Poisson’s ratio. Variations of K and T-stress with changing thickness in the edge-cracked plates are presented.
