AnnotationIn this paper, we show that the apterous immatures performing worker tasks in Glossotermes oculatus are the source of the single wing-budded nymphal instar preceding the alate. Consequently, they qualify as pseudergates rather than true workers. However, the sex ratio is strongly male-biased in pseudergates and soldiers, which is a trait usually restricted to termites with true workers.
