Description in EnglishWhile cognitive theories of emotions are well equipped to support their normative force (normativity is transferred from the domain of beliefs to emotional states), cognitivism finds itself in general decline. Perceptual theories had for the long time lacked any solution to the normativity puzzle, yet J. Prinz was successful in tying them with intentionality. However, biological selection that Prinz relies on, does not imply any normativity of the results. In fact, just the opposite is the case. We show how a turn toward formal object theories might offer a solution to understanding normativity of emotions.
