    AnnotationV článku je podán stručný přehled vývoje věd o životě v českých zemích během 2. světové války. Došlo přinejmenším ke stagnaci, hlavně v oborech, které měly svou hlavní institucionální oporu na vysokých školách (české byly uzavřeny, německé trpěly povoláním mladších pracovníků na frontu). Někdy se podařilo výpadek nahradit - např. K. Domin byl schopen zorganizovat rozsáhlý floristický výzkum čekých zemí pod záštitou ministerstva zdravotnictví. Tam, kde scházelo laboratorní vybavení, vznikaly závažné teoretické nebo popularizační práce (V. Laufberger, B. Němec, V. Úlehla aj.). Německá biologická komunita, ač se mohla opřít o vlastní pražskou akademii (1941, v čele s anatomem O. Grosserem) vcelku nedosáhla pozoruhodnějších výsledků.
    Description in EnglishIn the years 1939-1945, the institutional basis of the life sciences in the Czech lands was afflicted by the closure of the Czech universities - main established centres of research and teaching. For all that, the scientific work was preserved and brought also important publications, which are mentioned in this paper. The floristic research organized by Karel Domin can be brought as an example. On the other hand, despite all support by the occupation regime, the German scientific community, which could go upon its own Academy (reformed in 1941), did not achieve comparable results.
