AnnotationSingle-crystalline grain of UCoSn was extracted from the ingot by means of preferential hydrogen absorption along grain boundaries. Despite the presence of about 25% of polycrystalline hydride in the sample, data on uniaxial magnetic anisotropy of UCoSn could be obtained. The first anisotropy constant K1 = 30 MJ m-3 (or 120 K per formula unit). In the paramagnetic range, the anisotropy is characterized by a 230 K difference in values of the paramagnetic Curie temperatures Qp along the c axis and in the basal plane.
