AnnotationThe study of unidirectional crystallization of a Ti-19Al-11Si(at.%) alloy by the floating zone method with optical heating is described. While the homogeneous eutectic composites with rod-shaped Ti5Si3 precipitates grow at a rate of 5mm.h-1, an inhomogeneous structure of the composite with primarily crystallised Ti5Si3 silicides was obtained at the rate of 18.8 mm.h-1.
