AnnotationHeat transfer characteristics of impinging jets are strongly affected by complex, not yet fully understood vortical structures that develop due to hydrodynamic instability. The paper describes the new techniques used in experiments with impinging jets: periodicallytriggered vortex formation, visualisation by laser light scattered from water mist particles added to the jet, and using advanced processing of image sequences.
