AnnotationEffect of two different UVA doses (daily dose 1.01 J/cm2 or 2.02 J/cm2 during 5 days) were examined on the rabbit cornea and lens and compared with the same dose of UVB rays. Results show that in contrast to UVB rays which were highly dangerous to the cornea and lens, UVA rays were without any significant damaging effect, investigated spectrophotometrically (for light absorption), biochemically (for nitric oxide and malondialdehyde) as well as immunohistochemically (for nitric oxide synthases).
