AnnotationThis paper deals with the effect of family background on computer literacy. Situation in the Czech Republic is compared with Finland and Slovakia. The analytical approach is based on the idea that effect of family background on computer literacy can be transmitted in two ways, either directly or indirectly through ICT possession at home. Although stronger indirect effect than the direct one was found in all cases, based on an international comparison it is clear that the higher is the ICT penetration at home, the weaker is the value of total effect of family background.
