AnnotationIn a screen designed to identify novel targets of BMP4 signaling in telencephalic neural stem cells we found that the levels of the previously uncharacterized factor CXXC5 were reproducibly upregulated after BMP4 stimulation. We demonstrate that CXXC5 can interact with the Wnt-signaling intermediate. Dishevelled and attenuate Wnt signaling. We conclude that CXXC5 is a BMP4 induced inhibitor of Wnt signaling in neural progenitors.
