AnnotationGenetical variation of Nuphar lutea plants from the catchments of the Cidlina river, the Mrlina river and the Labe river was studied using microsatellite markers. The results showed surprisingly rare vegetative long-distance dispersal of this species, downstream dispersal by seeds and significant positive autocorrelation among individuals at within-river distances of up to 25 km. Repeated dispersal by seeds over distances in the range tens of kilometers appears to be common.
