Description in English In this lecture, the data on structure and mechanical behaviour of the .beta.-polypropylene taken from the literature are supported by original experimental results. Several (sometimes controversial) models trying to characterize the morphology and explain its effect on the macroscopic mechanical behaviour are summarised and compared. It is concluded that a realistic explanation of the experimental observations ašshould be based on the concept of hirearchical structure.
