Working with open beams without Soller collimators the diffraction devices equipped with the BPC-elements in combination with position-sensitive detectors can be dramatically superior to the conventional devices with flat mosaic crystals. In this paper we review the basis of the Bragg diffraction optics and its practical applications as they were proposed andtested in the last decade within the collaboration betweenNPI, PTB, ILL and KURRI.
