AnnotationAs an alternative bentonites, monmprillonite-rich clays are studied from mineralogical and technical points of view to better understand the structure-properties relation with respect to their possible use in the nuclear waste management. The content of smectites, particle size, porosity, cation exchange and sorption properties, hydraulic conductivity and swelling were compared within a set ofsamples of clays from Cheb basin(GE clays) and bentonites from the Rokle deposit, Czech Republic.
