The first half of the Holocene is significantly different from the last few thousand years - the substrate puctuated by a most intense environmental degradation of the whole Holocene during Late Bronze to Early Iron Age. This environmental crisis can be characterised by erosion (deforestration?), de-calcification of the soils and sediments that resulted in pine forest spreading and consequent profound change of fauna and flora (e.g. only 5-7 species of snails had survived in the searched area).
