AnnotationPolyethylene (PE) was implanted with 15 keV Ar+ and Kr+ ions to the fluences from 3 x 1012 ů 1015 cm-2 and subsequently grafted with amino acid sequence ArgůGlyůAsp (RGD), i.e. a minimum adhesion motif recognized by integrin receptors on cells. Addition of RGD sequence onto double bonds created by the ion irradiation on polymeric chain was observed. The adhesion and proliferation of 3T3 mouse embryonic fibroblasts was increased by ion implantation and additionally also by RGD grafting.
