AnnotationStrategies for the synthesis of biodegradable polymers as biomaterials for tissue engineering are presented. Polyester-based polymers can be functionalized through surface deposition of amphiphilic block copolymers containing specific functional groups, such as adhesion-peptide sequences, at the ends of their hydrophilic chains. Using of this technique for preparation of biomimetic surfaces of polylactide and the effects of polymers surface properties on the cell adhesion and proliferation are discussed.
