Na rozdíl od tradičního psychologického přístupu není text chápán jako výpověď o osobnosti autorky, ale jako znázornění a vytváření významů sociálního prostoru, v němž i naše životy získávají svůj specifický smysl. Vyzývací síla textu je tak znásobena. Čtení hry Psychóza ve 4.48 je založeno na dvou interpretačních liniích, z nichž první se vztahuje k rozporu mezi racionalitou předpokládající dichotomii poznávajícího subjektu a poznávaného objektu a ne-racionalitou, jež ruší toto bezpečné oddělení. Druhá linie čtení se zaměřuje na způsob, jímž je v textu konstruováno Já, a nchází po konkrétním druhém a touhu po transcendentální Druhé, jež obě interpretuje jako ztvárnění možnosti, jak zůstat subjektem. Ani jedna z linií však záchytný bod k uchování sebe sama neposkytuje, a text je proto interpretován jako postupné vedení hlasů Já ke svému zániku. Description in English The paper presents some possibilities for the poststructuralist interpretation of texts. In contrast with traditional psychological inquiry, Kane´s drama is not understood as a testimony of her personal conflicts but as a reproduction of shared social meanings which also constitute our subjective world.The appeal of her text is thus intensified. The interpretation of the play „4.48 Psychosis“proceeds in two directions. The first one relates to the conflict between rationality, based on a hierarchical subject-object dichotomy, and non-rationality, which breaks up this safe distinction. The second direction elaborates the theme of the self. The search for a particular person is interpreted as a demand for the Other and the longing for an unknown person as a desire for the Other. Both of them represent the possibility of being preserved as a subject which, nonetheless, cannot be fulfilled.
