AnnotationThe presented paper aims to sum up activities on characterisation of retention features of granitic rocks in the Czech Republic. Sorption and diffusion processes were observed to be more complex than is usually considered. Sorption on inner sites can continue even after long time period. Not only intergranular pores can play a role in the rock matrix diffusion: microfissures within rock grains open new free sorbing surface for diffusing radionuclides. Diffusion of non–sorbing radionuclides can be determined using simple through-diffusion experiments. RBS method was firstly implemented for study of Cs retention within granitic rock. A new GoldSim diffusion module proved to be an efficient tool for modeling of diffusion also for sorbing radionuclides.
