AnnotationFeed intake and weight gains were higher in Charolais heifers than in Limousin heifers. The muscle lipids and subcutaneous fat of Limousin heifers contained more unsaturated fatty acids and conjugated linoleic acid, and less saturated fatty acids than lipids of Charolais heifers. Linseed supplementation improved fatty acid profile of tissue lipids, but breed differences were generally more important than effects of the diet.
