All these activities are aimed at amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) of multiply charged ions. Device CAPEX is already lasing at 46,88 nm on Ne-like Ar ions. At present factors influencing its function (alignement, capillary lasing life-time) are studied. Device CAPEX-U, intended for studies of ASE at shorter wavelengths, is being assembled. Device SHOW, water-filled experimental chamber with converging cylindrical shock wave, will replace (in one of variants) the capillary in CAPEX-U for wire explosion in water.
