AnnotationDescription of the generation and propagation of infrasonic waves emitted by a finite extended source in the inhomogeneous absorbing atmosphere is focus of the paper. An algorithm is presented, which allows adaptation of a point source model for calculating the ionospheric infrasonic field from an underground nuclear explosion. Calculations agree well with HF Doppler sounding measurements during underground nuclear explosions at the Semipalatinsk Test Site.
