Annotation	The paper addresses the development of higher education in the Czech Republic after 1989, with a special emphasis to the relevant legislation, institutional settings, financing and enrollment. The most significant structural changes in the Czech tertiary education system addressed in the paper are decentralization and diversification. As for the financing, the authors argue that universities remained dependent on the state to a high degree.
