Článek pojednává o ideologických základech čínského sinocentrického náhledu na svět a jeho konkrétních projevech ve formě tzv. tributárních vztahů. Popisuje praxi tributárních poselstev a výměn rituálních darů, ale upozorňuje, že rozhodně nešlo o imperativ řídící zahraniční politiku čínských říší

The article focuses on various changes of the Chinese world view, from the establishment of the first united empire up to the last imperial dynasty, stressing the obvious tension between the ideology of tributary relationships and the reality of current geopolitical needs
