In this work the permeability and the selectivity for methane and CO2 of two ionic liquid membranes were determined and obtained results were compared with theoretically calculated mass transfer coefficients taken from literature reported on gas diffusivity and solubility in pure ionic liquids. All tested literature data sets overestimated the operation of the membranes at least two times and determination of reasons for this was summarized in this work.
