Článek se věnuje vývoji a zaměření Vysoké školy politické a sociální, jež byla založena po roce 1945 pro výchovu státních úředníků a pracovníků postupně etatizovaného veřejného prostoru. Sleduje postupné kroky jejího ovládnutí komunistickou stranou v souvislosti s obecnými projevy této hegemonizace ve společenském a politickém životě tak, jak byl ustaven v systému Národní fronty. Rovněž se snaží postihnout proměnu postavení VŠPS v poúnorovém období na základě nově definované vědní politiky KSČ (opuštění konceptu sociálního vzdělávání, restrikce sociologie jako tzv. buržoazní pavědy).

The study deals with the development and direction of the University of Political and Social Sciences which was established after 1945 to educate state officials and workers of the gradually etatized public space. It observes gradual steps of its overtaking by the Communist party in relation to general signs of this hegemonisation in social and political life as stated in the National Front system. It also tries to comprehend the change of the above mentioned university position in the after-February period on the basis of a newly defined science policy of the Communist party (leaving the concept of social education, restriction of sociology as a bourgeois pseudoscience).
