The aim of the paper was to clarify that emergency declarations are able to cover short-term disasters, including those caused by climate change, but not the long-term process of climate crisis, and furthermore that climate emergency declarations, on which social movements have high hopes, do not actually have the legal power to bring solutions to climate change.
