AnnotationThis publication, printed in both an English and Czech version is the catalogue for the exhibition of the same title. The exhibition took place in the Stone Bell House on Old Town Square in Prague between November 4, 2010 and February 6, 2011, coinciding with the 700th anniversary of the ascent of John of Luxembourg to the Bohemian throne and his marriage to Bohemian Princess Elisabeth Premyslid. The catalogue and the exhibition focus on the art and culture at the Prague royal court during the reign of the last Premyslids and the main commissioners of the works of art. At the beginning, this activity also continued at the court of John and Elisabeth (ca. 1270–1320). John of Luxembourg’s place of origin and the dramatic rise of his dynasty in the first third of the 14th century are also highlighted. In the catalogue, the Stone Bell House, which is situated in the centre of Prague and which was the exhibition venue, plays a crucial role as the royal city residence of John and Elisabeth.
