Encyklopedické heslo přináší na základě nejnovějšího odborného bádání syntetické informace o životě, díle a nauce prvního latinského křesťanského spisovatele a zakladatele západní teologie Tertulliana z Kartága (3. stol.). Kromě historiografie a přehledu bádání přináší informace o všech jeho spisech (včetně edic a odborné literatury) a shrnuje význam jeho myšlení a literárního díla pro raně křesťanskou teologii i literaturu.

The encyclopaedic entry provides synthetic information on the life, work and teaching of the first Latin Christian writer and founder of the Western theology, Tertullian of Carthage (3rd century AD), based on the latest scholarship. In addition to historiography and a survey of scholarship, it provides information on all of his writings (including editions and scholarly literature) and summarizes the importance of his thought and literary works to early Christian theology and literature.
