    Water soluble compounds, both organic and inorganic, make up a large part of aerosol mass, especially in the PM2.5 size fraction. Ion chromatography (1C) methods were used to characterise these compounds in PM2.5 during winter and summer campaigns of the TRACE pro-ject at three rural sites in Central Europe in 12-hour (day/night) time resolution.
