Studie pojednává o vztazích mezi habsburským válečníkem Karlem Bonaventurou de Longueval hrabětem Buquoyem a královským městem Českými Budějovicemi. Hrabě město obsadil v listopadu 1618 a využíval je jako svou hlavní vojenskou základnu až do podzimu následujícího roku. Opakovaně je doložena Buquoyova vstřícnost vůči městské reprezentaci při jejích střetech s jinými – a to i vojenskými – autoritami. Šlo nepochybně především o výraz Buquoyova pragmatického přístupu k okolnostmi vynucenému prolínání civilní a armádní správy v městském organismu, jehož efektivní využití coby opěrného bodu v boji proti rebelujícím evangelickým stavům bylo nemyslitelné bez koordinace aktivit městských institucí a vojenských struktur.

The study deals with the relations between the Habsburg warrior Charles Bonaventure de Longueval, Count of Bucquoy and the royal city of České Budějovice. The Count marched into the town in November 1618 and used it as his main military base until the autumn of the following year. Buquoyʼs friendliness towards the cityʼs representation in its clashes with other - even military - authorities is repeatedly documented. This was undoubtedly primarily an expression of Buquoyʼs pragmatic approach to the circumstantially enforced intermingling of civil and military administration in the urban organism, whose effective use as a foothold in the fight against the rebellious evangelical estates was unthinkable without the coordination of the activities of urban institutions and military structures.
